Hey Meg,
I spoke to Dan a while back about the #4 which he passed on to the Dreyfus shop. I visited AS220 the last time I was passing through Providence with a Vandercook in the back of the van. The Japanther boys and I had some mighty good burritos downstairs. I am really glad to hear that you are getting the print studio opened up. I am sure it will see a bit of action.
Just so you know, the Vandercook #4 you have doesn’t use a galley thickness bed plate. I think it may be a photopolymer plate base that you are looking for. I would suggest Boxcar press for one of those and for your press I’d recommend the 13×19 base. If you order one you may want to consider having them cut it in half. Doing so will allow you to lock up a plate and some type at the same time.

Hey Daniel,
I am a part of a community printshop that is just getting off the ground in providence, RI - we are set to open on sept 7 with letterpress and silkscreening. We have a Vandercook proof press that just got up and running, but we are in desperate need for a bed plate, and new-made is out of our budget. As another community shop, i would love to come by The Arm anyways, and see how you run.
