The Arm’s Vandercook #3 on eBay

Posted October 12, 2007 by The Arm NYC   2,930 views    5 Comments    Print Print

Vandercook #3In order to make room for a new press I have listed The Arm’s Vandercook #3 proof press on eBay. Starting bid is $1. This press is missing its inking roller setup and would have to be inked with a brayer, but it should prove to be a good deal for someone printing monotypes or smaller editions. This press is sold as-is and is located at street level in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NYC.
If you’d like to stop by for a look let me know! And if you have any questions feel free to ask them here.

A 099 gravity press on ebay just sold for $330.00. This makes Daniel’s No. 3 a real bargain in comparison.

Previous ebay auctions have fetched more for this model, but this is reasonable for one that has neither an ink motor nor a foot pedal to raise the paper grippers. I recognize some people like both of these features, but for me the No. 3 is less desirable.

Sold for $355. Not a bad deal for the buyer and I believe it is her first Vandercook. I’ll try to get her to join the Vanderblog and register this #3′s new home on the Census.
Now I just have to move in my new SP-15 and a #4…

We don’t have any for sale, but we have made some of the components. One of the Nevada desert #4s from Ted Salkin ended up in Los Angeles and we are rebuilding the upper ink drum and 2 idler rollers right now. The rider rollers were severely rusted, so new ones have been turned, the oscillating ink drum was badly pitted on one side, and that has been successfully turned and polished, and all the connecting rods have been replaced with new ones–all from the original blueprints. The bronze handles are reuseable, so it will be back on the press shortly. To make a whole new assembly would be difficult because of the 4 castings that make up the main parts, plus the worm and crescent castings that are not so much a problem.

Is it possible to find an inking roller setup somewhere out there (maybe via NA Graphics)?
