Motorless SP-15 on eBay in NE - Posted September 14, 2007

There is a Vandercook SP-15 on eBay in Omaha, Nebraska.  It is equipped with a hand wheel to work the ink instead of the lower ink drum.  These presses can’t carry quite as much ink as the motorized SP-15, but if this press is in your neck of the woods it might be worth a look.

Challenge proof press for sale in Brooklyn - Posted August 8, 2007

Challenge Proof Press

I am listing this for a local printer that is soon to vacate his shop. The press has an oscillating bed and requires the form to be put in a chase and inked with a brayer. It would probably be best for those who work with wood type or mounted linoleum. I suspect the seller would be willing to include a Miehle V50 chase with the press if a price were negotiated. It is shown with the handle removed, but the press is complete.

Pick up is from ground level in Brooklyn, NY. Anyone interested?  Other items from the same shop can be viewed at the following address:

Help ID old Vandercook - Posted June 1, 2007

I need help identifying my Vandercook. There is no model number anywhere on the press (nor any serial number), the plate states only “Vandercook Roller Series Proof Press”. There are 4 patent dates, all in 1914. It looks like the 17 or a member of the 15 family as seen on the Vandercook website. The web site states the 15 family did not have a crank, which this one does. It has the serial number 5739.

Surely the collective wisdom of this group can add to the small start I have. Oh yes, I have to get rid of it so if anyone wants to make an offer, feel free. Otherwise it’s going on ebay, hopefully correctly described. It’s very heavy and a pickup only in Chicago. Health considerations limit my ability to move it.

Thank you,

Charles Kroon

#4 anyone? - Posted May 21, 2007

I noticed a #4 on ebay. If I hadn’t just moved my #3 I would consider getting in on the bidding. I swear I will never move a Vandy 18+ hrs again. I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the auction. Here it is:

Vandercook Electric Galley Proof Presses – For Sale in Chicopee, MA - Posted April 15, 2007

John Barrett at Letterpress Things is trying to find a home for a Vandercook 22 and an HS27. The 22 needs some work and new rollers, but the HS27 is in great shape and probably ready to run. The price is negotiable on both of these. These presses do not have gripper bars so the position of the print on the page can not be consistantly maintained.
These may be useful for someone that needs to proof newly cast type or their collection of print blocks for scanning (to flog ‘em on eBay?) or to make rubber stamps.  Please contact John at letterpressthing@aol.com if you are interested in one of these. The price is negotiable or he will consider letterpress related goods in trade.
