I’m getting the rollers for my Universal I recovered and noticed when I was making a case for them, that one roller has got straight edges, the other slightly tapered edges. Is there any particular reason?

The rollers on my recently acquired press are in a bad state and I will have to get them re-covered. Any indication as to what kind of hardness of rubber I will have to ask for? Soft, hard, medium? Any advice is welcome.
