Vandercook 325A rollers - Posted June 4, 2009

The University’s Vandercook 325A needs a new set of rollers. I’ve got the old cores, etc. but don’t know the proper dimensions. Also, does anyone have recommendations about where to have them recovered?

325 Cylinder rack trip/print positions - Posted January 12, 2009

Vanderblog stalwart Eric Holub sent these photos of the cylinder trip rack on his 325G to help Kyle van Horn solve his alignment problem. The first pair shows the rack in trip (whole assembly, then close-up) and the second pair shows it in print (whole assembly, then close-up).

325 Mis-alignment question - Posted January 4, 2009

Happy New Year all –

I have a question for the masses – I’ll try to keep this concise. The shop I work in has a 325 that has forever seemed to have issues. We solved it various ways – extra packing being one, realizing it needed a bed plate was another (that helped!). We also know that when it was moved into the space, it was disassembled and moved (whereas most were hauled up intact).

Whilst printing some large pages recently, I decided something was truly wrong with the press. With some encouragement from my usual support, I disassembled the Trip/Print rack assembly. . .

Does anyone need a new bed plate? - Posted August 24, 2007

I am about to have replacement bed plates made up for both of my Vandercook 320Gs and my #3 and will have enough of the .050” cold rolled steel to make one extra bed plate.  Would anyone like to buy one for either of these presses?  The price will be fair.  Contact me for details.

missing parts from my 320 - Posted March 7, 2007

I have a disassembled 320 who’s missing a few parts. I have no idea where they went to, probably some sculpture kid ran off with them. Anyway, as I see it I have 3 options. 1] find replacement parts from a scrap press 2] machine new parts based on actual pieces or plans 3] sell the sellable parts . Ironically, the lockup bar & the entire iniking assembly is present and accounted for, except for needing recovering. I don’t know what’s wisest here, so any advice or help is appreciated.

thanks much,

Seeking Vandercook Side Guide x 2 - Posted January 27, 2007

I have been trying for a while to find an old style Vandercook sheet side guide for one of my 320Gs and also one of the newer ones for one of my Universal IIIs. If anyone has a spare they could sell or happens to know where I might be able to find one it would be a really big help!

UPDATE- I have found some of the parts for the 320G side guide, but still need the internals. Please see the second photo for what I have located and the third for the parts I still need. If you have any idea where I might obtain the rest I would really appreciate the tip!

Grippers snap closed when cylinder is at feed board… - Posted October 23, 2006

I am trying to work out the quirks in one of my 320G presses and the thing that is bothering me the most is that the grippers are closing when the cylinder reaches the feed board. The gripper pedal won’t open them at this point. The gripper bar stops at the proper vertical orientation, but I think it may be closer to the edge of the feed board than it is meant to be. Should I assume that the cylinder is meshed one tooth off and needs to be rolled off the end, reset, and the bumper springs readjusted to make it stop vertical further to the right? The other press isn’t much help because the cylinder is even further out of its proper meshed position. It should be a bit of a chore to roll these off the end of the bed.

Anybody using 320G/325G with auto sheet feed? - Posted September 24, 2006

Hello,
I have a 320G press (#17096) set up with the optional auto sheet feed and was wondering if anyone was using one of these presses. I am looking for replacement rubber tapes for its sheet advance mechanism and have yet to find a source. Any ideas? Any tips on working on this press from someone experienced with its operation?

Thanks,
