When folks lament that there are no replacement parts for their ancient press, there’s a reason. Fritz Klinke, owner of NA Graphics and the Vandercook archives, sent me this jpeg showing a Vandercook Engineering Change Order for the 325 series. ”This particular change order is about nine pages long, and includes other models. I just grabbed that one and [...]

Rattling Rollers - Posted January 25, 2013
I was operating my Vandercook 320 and all of the sudden, the metal rollers began rattling out of control either while in print or trip mode. The rollers are shaking about so much that they’ve even been tossed off of the rubber roller carriage at times. I’ve tried oiling the press, tightening screws, but nothing [...]
Vandercook 325AH help - Posted November 7, 2012
Greetings, I am involved with a voluntary museum which has a Vandercook 325AH which has not been used for a long time. We have got it freed up and seemingly nearly ready for use, but there seems to be a feed tray missing and there seems to be a problem with the paper tray on [...]
Press for Sale? - Posted June 18, 2012
There’s a chance that I’ll be selling my Vandercook 320 for a smaller press. I just replaced the rollers, and it’s in great working condition. What do you think I could start by asking for it? I’d only sell if I’d be able to buy another press with what I make from the sale. Thanks [...]
Trouble with a 325 Trip Mechanism - Posted June 12, 2012
I have a 325, serial #6086, and I’m having trouble with the trip mechanism. The pedal is completely unresponsive. It would seem that there was a problem with a spring or the spring link, but it seems to be at least connected fine. It’s not “snapping back” to create the tension one needs to raise [...]
Vandercook 320G packing - Posted July 26, 2011
Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone out there may be able to offer me some advice with packing my Vandercook 320G. I’ve got a piece of cold rolled steel, 18 gauge/.050″ to make up for the galley depth. I talked to a few print shops in my area about packing, and one printer I talked to [...]
Vandercook 320G issues - Posted July 10, 2011
I’m in the thick of trying to get my Vandercook 320G up and running. This is different than other Vandercooks I’ve printed on for various reasons (it’s completely manual, the metal and rubber rollers are behind the cylinder, etc). I’ve encountered a couple of things so far that I’d love advice with if you have [...]
comparisons for valuing 325g - Posted March 29, 2011
I’m purchasing and donating a 325g to a artists studio non-profit and need to have some comps on the value for my 2011 taxes. Apparently the IRS likes to see comps and won’t just accept the receipt for what I paid as a full picture of monetary value. The press has new rollers and is [...]
Considering 325G - Posted March 14, 2011
I’m considering purchasing a reconditioned 325G with new rollers and all fixed up for $6800. It’s a heftier press than I have ever used and uses in ink plate instead of an ink drum. Does anyone have serious problems with their 325G and/or warn against this purchase? I am in upstate NY/Rochester area — does [...]
Cleaning a 325G - Posted June 15, 2010
Hi All I’m cleaning up my 325G and noticed someone had painted the Bed, Bearers and Racks. Will that affect printing (packing, etc.) and is it necessary to strip it all down to bare metal? If so, can anyone advise on the best and/or least toxic way to go? Thanks for any help! Steve
Vandercook 325A rollers - Posted June 4, 2009
The University’s Vandercook 325A needs a new set of rollers. I’ve got the old cores, etc. but don’t know the proper dimensions. Also, does anyone have recommendations about where to have them recovered?
325 Cylinder rack trip/print positions - Posted January 12, 2009
Vanderblog stalwart Eric Holub sent these photos of the cylinder trip rack on his 325G to help Kyle van Horn solve his alignment problem. The first pair shows the rack in trip (whole assembly, then close-up) and the second pair shows it in print (whole assembly, then close-up).
