Vandercook Rocker Images
From Nels Johnson

We have one of the very early (pre-serial number) Vandercook Trip Action "rocker" proof presses. It was found in a barn and brought to our printmaking class at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Our intention is to return it to operational status, and then use it to combine high quality text with images created via the Intaglio method. Many fine art prints have text combined with an image. As a matter of fact, many early manuscripts were illustrated with images to help explain the manuscript's point. It will be a interesting journey cleaning, oiling, and re-outfitting the press in order to make it ready. We have been in touch with NA Graphics and they have been most helpful. We would appreciate any tips others may have to help us along. (Email, 3/29/04)
