Issue with #4 while printing

When I am printing, every few sheets, the rollers chatter the whole way down the press bed. When this happens, the print is ruined with a strip of over-inky-ness and the next few prints are ruined as it cleans back up the extra ink. I’ve included photos and a video of the noise.

Paul mentioned the blocks, pins or clutch plate could need to be replaced as well as the rollers. I think the press looks in pretty good shape and I am thinking the rollers are the only thing that need replacing. Happy to hear any suggestions as to what the issue might be!

Thanks!

Typically, there are multiple issues. The rollers do look flared if not under-sized. They should be 2.5″ in diameter.

If the gear and clutch are chattering at the feed board this indicates that the clutch pins are flattened and probably the clutch plate is worn. A temporary fix is to add an additional shim to the cam on the form roller rack that tilts the clutch plate.

Lastly, you have the original brass bearing bars. The bores for the roller cores are probably reamed which allow the cores to bounce. Replacements are steel and are bored to accommodate Nyliners (bushings).
