This post related to Hand gripper lever for a No. 3. –PM:
Here’s a quick sketch. I don’t have a #3 around me, but if the Gripper Trip Lever is anything like a #4 or an SP-20, you can undo the top 2 screws and let it swing free, slide the tube over, and reassemble.
I have yet to made one made, but see this post, where one was attached to a No.4 (not Kyle’s sleeve, but one identical to my idea where the original gripper lever is replaced. https://vandercookpress.info/2010/02/grippers/
I realize this post is nearly 2 years old, but I was wondering if this idea was ever made to work? I am about to take delivery of a press and was wondering if this add-on was deemed a success.
Every once in awhile I like to use my omnipotent powers for good.
Yes, it may be a bit more complicated and expensive to fabricate, but the thing I like is that I could travel with it and use as a demo in workshops.
So I admit I tend to over-engineer things, but this might be a nice, neat solution to this gripper problem.
The first issue I’ve run across so far is finding tubing in this size, with very specific inner dimensions — my Grip Trip Levers seem to be exactly .25″x1″, i’m guessing that’s standard — any sources on that kind of thing, or simple, brilliant solutions that don’t involve milling out stock rod?
Also, thx to Paul for his out-of-body posting for me.
