No 4 assembly questions

Hello all! I’m looking at the #4 in the studio where I work, and wondering about 2 things. I don’t have another #4 to compare to, and can’t find the answer in my parts guide.

Question 1:

This pin is missing, can I purchase a replacement, or is it not important? It is missing at this one point for both the top and bottom assembly.

Question 2:

Are the metal plates under the screws on one side of the bottom assembly standard? Is it a problem that they aren’t on the other side? See photos below.

Thanks, y’all!

I wouldn’t bother replacing taper pins where the frame and tie rod joint is tight—unless the tie rods are bent.

  1. A #1 × 1″ taper pin is necessary to keep the handles and tie rods that comprise the frame rigid. Otherwise, the riders may move laterally and out of parallel with the form rollers. A roll pin could be substituted.
  2. The retainers are standard for steel bearing blocks with nyliners. They’re only needed on the non-gear side.
