I have a SP-15 press that uses a cable to connect the foot pedal to the gripper head release. The cable has broken, twice, and I am wondering what type of cable I should be sourcing that will be a better solution. Is there a mechanical work around to replace the cable?
Thank you for your help,
Ray Bidegain

there are a lot of parts for this linkage. i restored last year a sp 15. check out the pict of the cleaned parts before i put them to the press. if you want to see the pictures when i took them out, send me you email and i can share a link with over 40 pictures.
So was it 2 rods and a bell crank. I have been thinking about such a fix.
As I suspected, this is a homemade fix. Originally, there were rods and yokes, etc. on this assembly. Those parts may be impossible to source. As for better cables, check McMaster-Carr, if you haven’t already.

I’ve made similar repairs to SP15, SP20, and Universal rods, yokes, springs, and brackets, but not cables on an SP15. Could you please take photos? I know the access area is awkward.
