SP-15 non-motorized press | 2 questions please

Hello:

I feel like I ask y’all lots of questions.  I truly appreciate all the help you have offered this novice user.  My questions today are these:

  1. I am running out of height adjustment for the front form roller before it is high enough for proper printing.
  2. Is the hand crank on the front form roller attached by a screw on the crank? I do not see any sort of locking device on the crank but it seems very attached to the roller.

Thank you,

Be well,

Ray Bidegain

Keep your questions coming, Ray. It’s why this forum exists.

Form roller adjustment

  • Use calipers to check the rubber diameter which should be 2&#189″ for an SP15. Buy new rubber if it’s significantly flared on shrunken.
  • Remove the bearing block from the adjusting post, clean and lightly oil the threads and reinsert to the mid point and slip (with nyliners) onto the core.
  • A possible temporary solution is to insert a small dowel into the hole for the adjusting post on the side plate—use wood for easy extraction with an awl.

Handwheel

  • The hand wheel has a threaded stud inserted into the end of the core and is locked by a set screw on the hub.
