219 Oscillating Inking Roller

Hi, I am looking into possibly buying a 219 Old Style press from a man in Oklahoma. It looks like (from his pictures) that it is missing the rubber inking rollers and an oscillating inking roller (metal?). I knew about the rubber rollers, and the core bracket is there for those, so I imagine I can get those from NA Graphics. Does anyone know if that oscillating roller is supposed to be there? And if it is, is it possible to find or buy a replacement? I couldn’t tell much about the inking parts from the photos on Vandercookpress.info.

Thanks for any help!

Ellen,
Did you buy this press? I have an oscillating roller assembly as spare that came from John Bartlett. If you need it I will talk to him and see if he can make you a good deal.

I have one complete 219 OS inking assembly that we use for reference. I also have all the blueprints, but to make this from scratch, especially just one unit, could run a couple of thousand dollars at today’s prices. Some parts are in stock–the CS-23 crescent for example, but there are castings involved and we have none of the assembly jigs. It can be done, but I hesitate at promising it would be at all affordable.

Thanks Bill. I love rooting through cabinets and drawers, during workshop and housecalls, and finding parts, accessories and documents that the owner wasn’t really aware of.

Ask the current owner if he knows where they are – it’s possible that they have been set aside to keep the rollers in good shape – I ran into the same thing looking at a 320 last year – the rollers and oscillator assembly were stored in the cabinet underneath, and therefore not visible in the photo.

I also store my oscillator assembly “off press”.
