I’m getting the impression cylinder recovered on my 05 proof press and am hoping to find the original Vandercook specification for the durometer on the Vulcanized rubber coating. Mine is probably still sporting the original rubber which is very hard and not very pliable at the moment. I heard durometer 70 somewhere…
Can anyone provide something more accurate than that?
Thanks for your help, Yvon
Paul, thanks for posting this closing comment, I should have thought of that. Slowly, the mysteries of all things Vandercook are being unveiled and the Vanderblog knowledge database is growing.
Cheers! Yvon
For other folks who may be interested: Yvon got his answer from Fritz via email, who informed him that the particular print is not in the files. While not definitive he said that the durometer should be 60 to 70.
Yvon will opt for a middle ground approach of 65 as the rubber will harden over time and he’s hoping to use the 05 for larger posters: “A little softer would be kinder on my woodtype and might offer me a broader range of impression, yes?”
