Our Uni I originally had red shims under the geared racks for the cylinder and ink racks. As it was disintegrating and falling out, we removed it on cleanup but haven’t found a source for replacement. Does anyone have a resource for this or a recommendation for an alternate material?
The total thickness and number of shims depend on the model and when that specific press was built. This is based on the rack manufacturer’s tolerances which Vandercook would then calibrate to their own needs. Some presses have multiple shims of varying thickness and color.
In the field, I have measured (in thousandths of an inch) and tabulated shims by color and thickness. Your mileage may vary.
