Vandercook Uni 1 rollers not rolling on their own…

Hello!

I have a Universal I press that is doing something I haven’t seen it do before.

I am having issue with the form rollers engaging but not rolling once the oscillating roller is placed down. The back form roller has been acting up this last week (the gear was shifting and grinding) but I was able to tighten the screw on the end and it would fix the problem for a little while, but then I would have to continue to tighten throughout the press run. Now with all the screws right none of the rollers are rolling when the rollers are placed down.

However, when I put the rollers down and take the carriage to the end of the press and back everything rolls as it should.

  • I have looked at what manuals I can find and friends who have sent me a copy.
  • I have adjusted the roller height
  • The oscillating roller is properly lubricated and rolling when I spin it with my hand
  • The form rollers are rolling when I spin them with my hand
  • The motorized roller is rolling just fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I can provide more information if needed.

Thank you so much!

Meg

Have you checked that the screws on the roller core ends which secure the roller end blocks to the roller cores are fully tightened in place? I have seen situations where one of these backs out due to the rotation of the roller and creates friction against the carriage.
