SP20 grinding noise
Hi there, We got the trip issue figured out. Now the next thing; when we start to print the SP20 press sounds like a the roller gear is grinding when it hits the teeth rails. Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks, Cindy

MoreHelp! SP15 Grippers go up, but do not go down!
I changed the tympan paper three days ago, and since then my grippers are not functioning properly. When I press the gripper pedal the grippers go up, but when I release the pedal 3 out of 4 grippers remain up, and therefore are not gripping my paper at the feed board. Because I am printing […]
MoreFear of damaging press– seeking advice
We have an SP20 and an 18 x 24″ magnetic base. We recently ran a job that required a full flood (with only minor knockouts), flood size 15.5 x 17.5″ We were attempting to minimize the saltiness of the print, so we upped the packing and the ink. Does anyone have guidelines to follow in regards […]
MoreSP-15 ink roller spring
When I got it, my SP-15 had springs attached to the rear roller(photo attached). I’ve noticed that the tension causes the roller height to decrease rather than helping to hold it steady. There’s no spring shown in the manual & it looks like someone long ago added a bolt that would anchor the end of […]

I am located in Toledo, Ohio and I have a Vandercook SP-15 in perfect working condition which I am selling. The price is negotiable, I paid $6000 for the press in 1996, and recast the rollers and refurbished the bed. It will need to be moved out of my type lab (sorry I can’t ship […]

MoreSP-15 Ink Drum Scratches/Resurfacing
I read with interest Ray Nichols’ prior post regarding the resurfacing of his SP-15’s ink drum. The drum on my own SP-15 is also scratched, presumably from the previous owner’s use of the automatic washup system (the blade was missing when I bought the press, and I haven’t replaced it). The scratches on the drum […]
MoreUnknown press markings
Hello all – You’d think that after 4 years of owning this press and scrubbing, cleaning, and rebuilding most parts of our SP20, I’d have seen everything. A few weeks ago I noticed a pair of markings on the non-operator side of our press. Directly across the end of the press from the serial number […]
MoreTightening bearing block on SP-15
I have found that the adjustment posts for the form rollers on our SP15 go out of adjustment rather easily of late. The locking screw is tight, but not tight enough to stop the post from turning. Do I simply remove the bearing block, remove the locking screw, and ‘gently’ tap the side of the […]
