Holy molly!
And I’m guessing the price will continue to go up.
Even Paul Maravelas mentions in his book that machines are scarce, and that was in 2005. Imagine now, 6 years later, that there’s more hype for Letterpress equipment.
So those 50 grand Paul mentioned in the post below, might not be so crazy now-a-days.
But I bet if the machine was manufactured off-shore it would be way cheaper, maybe in the price range of this used SP-15, then, 15 to 20 grand for a new SP-15 would not seem bad at all.
Using the inflation calculator, and a very rough estimate, that would be the approximate price they cost back when they were in production.
I’m sure if I had the money right now, I would pay $15,000 or $20,000 for a brand new SP-15.
Wow! Did you all see what the SP-15 went for on Ebay?! $13,500!!! It’s amazing what others will pay for a Vandercook! In my opinion, there are quite a few SP-15s out there and eventually one will come up on the market. So if I really want one, I will wait and pay a fraction of what that one on Ebay went for. What do you all think.
