I’m trying to figure out what model my press is. I don’t find a model number anywhere, it says Vandercook cast in along the top edge of the bed rail and maybe H 181 but can’t tell for sure. The wheel for rolling the roller has a plate on it saying 600-142-A. Bed size is about 24×32. All cast iron. The photos in your press list for a 17 are close but not the same.
This looks like a stripped-down, early No. 25 composing room cylinder. The handwheel is a printmaker’s modification. See the attached image.
There may be a serial number stamped into the bed: left end operator’s side. Please let me know if you find it.
