The vibrator has been pausing and jumping, so last night I took it apart to see if anything was broken on the crescent or worm gear. Didn’t find any problems, but I cleaned everything and greased it thoroughly before reassembly. Tried it this morning with no ink and it still hesitates at some points in its travel. I checked the form rollers and blocks and all seems to be normal. Any ideas what I need to look for to fix?
As Fritz commented in a previous post. The extra diameter is already factored in. https://vandercookpress.info/vanderblog/2011/02/recasting-rollers/
Yes, I had considered that. I’m going to get new rollers and use these as backup. Fritz once commented that rubber rollers actually shrink, and they should be ordered .030 larger. Does that mean the 215 rollers should be ordered at 2.53? Are there other issues if the rollers are too large?
If it’s not wear on your worm or crescent, then it’s the rollers. You may recall that I checked the diameter which averaged 2.43” (the spec is 2.5” +/- .015”). Also the durometer read A35, too hard (the spec is A20).
