I found a Vandercook Handy Brayer when cleaning my shop in the back of a press. I was looking for more information and ways of reclaiming the roller or replacing it, so we can start using it! There is still some give in the roller so it feels like it has some life in it.
Thanks!
Joe
Thanks Paul! I will give putz pomade a go and see what it will do. I will send you a message about my location and presses as well.
Although your mileage may vary, you can rejuvenate the rubber using a roller conditioner, such as Putz Pomemade. The rubber diameter should be 2.5 or 3″.
Most roller manufacturers can recover the core. I recommend shipping it without the frame.
Also, if you have a Vandercook or other brand of proof press, please send me a message with the model, serial number, and your location.
