Hello! I’m having a challenge with our SP20. When checking / setting the roller height at different points (as the carriage travels from end-to-end), when the press is in ‘Print,’ the roller height changes. Specifically, when the carriage is closest to the feedboard and moving forward for about 10 – 12 inches, the roller height […]

Handy Brayer
I found a Vandercook Handy Brayer when cleaning my shop in the back of a press. I was looking for more information and ways of reclaiming the roller or replacing it, so we can start using it! There is still some give in the roller so it feels like it has some life in it. […]
MoreMore TagInstalling New Rollers — Clutch Pin Issue
While installing new rollers on the #4, I ran into an issue where the threaded pin (MR-109) won’t pass through the new clutch pin (MR-110) once in the roller. Separately, all the parts fit together just fine. Once on the roller core, the threaded pin will pass through the holes in the clutch block (MR-108), […]
MoreMore TagSP15 Ink Drum Adjustment
Setting stripe ink drum to form on SP-15. How thick a stripe? And, any easy way to adjust (besides raising and lowering the drum/motor cradle (?) stop foot? It’s not an easy adjustment… loosening two bolts while pressing down on drum, micro-adjusting, then tightening (only to see I went too far). Better solution?
MoreMore TagNolan 2 Inker Proof Press
I am looking for information about a Nolan 2 inker proof press so I can order new rollers. I own a weekly newspaper and print shop. (It has been in business since 1914, and been in our family since 1932). I have numerous type high cuts that I would like to reproduce.
MoreMore TagSP-20 inking problem
I’m printing a very large plate of a linear illustration. The poster size is 18×24 and the plate is almost that size. I’m using my SP-20. The problem I’m having is, right in the middle of the form, I’m not getting solid ink coverage. It’s almost exactly in the center. My rollers are only 4 […]
MoreMore TagSP-15 Form roller gear height
Dear friends, The print co-op I belong to recently had the form rollers for our SP-15 recovered by Pamarco. After reinstallation, I adjusted both roller heights to achieve proper strike on the roller gauge. When the rear form roller is set to a proper height, the roller gear skips along the gear rack, barely making contact. When I […]
MoreMore TagUniversal Problem
I am having a problem with a roller on my Universal. The roller closest to the feed board is binding and can’t be removed. The offending area is opposite the press operator. We can not move the carriage and the roller is not spinning. We believe that a screw has worked loose and is not […]
MoreMore TagRecoating the ink fountain roller
Anyone know the specs or someone familiar with recoating the rubber roller that is part of the ink fountain on a Uni III? My roller is flared at both ends and the rubber is very hard from age. Thanks
MoreMore TagLooking for a starting point for Ink/Pressure issues UNI III AB
I recently attempted to print a very light color of borders that extended from the top of the bed about 10 inches. The ink was mostly composed of white and revealed things about the press that are perplexing. I have several issues going on, and perhaps this was, unwittingly, a test of all of them. […]
MoreMore TagRider roller frame
Hello guys —Happy holidays! I installed a long lost taper pin for the rider rollers shaft on my no.4 and realized that the MR-113 Tie Rods where the M-123 Rider Rollers go, are definitely twisted or bent so they make the installation of the pin a very tight fit and makes the frame sit twisted […]
MoreMore TagNo. 4 grinding chatter
We have a No. 4 who is the work-horse of our print shop (at MCBA). In recent weeks, it has started an awful chattering noise, that continues to get worse. At first I thought it was the gear and the clutch on the form rollers that were rubbing together. But on closer inspection the gear […]
