While installing new rollers on the #4, I ran into an issue where the threaded pin (MR-109) won’t pass through the new clutch pin (MR-110) once in the roller. Separately, all the parts fit together just fine. Once on the roller core, the threaded pin will pass through the holes in the clutch block (MR-108), but as soon as I start to tighten the threaded pin, it basically locks up and the clutch block won’t slide anymore. I’ve used a Scotch Brite pad to clean out the inside of the clutch pin and the other parts, and lubricated the pin with graphite powder.
It’s hard for me to tell if it’s the hole inside the clutch pin, or the pin itself. To confirm it was at least the clutch pin, I grabbed one of the worn pins, installed it, and no issue at all — the threaded pin tightens down without issue.
I’m curious, what is the tolerance on the hole in the clutch pin? Am I better off getting a new pin rather than trying to possibly use a small Dremel bit to sand the inside a bit and see if that solves the issue?
I filed out the hole in the clutch pin, to no avail. I’m thinking I might just need a new pin. I filed it quite a bit, but the threaded pin will slide through (without the clutch block in place) the pin one way, but when I rotate the clutch pin it will not go through the other way. Seems like maybe I just caught a bad pin.

I’ve run into this a few times. The hole in the pin was probably drilled off center. Use a round file to widen the hole. It will take several minutes and you’ll need to test it as you go.
