I was looking through my Universal 1 manual and found the Max Plate or Form Size to be 15″ x 22″. The website indicates this measurement to be 13″ x 22″. Needs correction I suppose on one or the other. Casey iLp

Fabricating Replacement SP-15 Impression Cylinder
I’m considering grabbing an SP-15 press but, like many presses out there, getting it into running order will require some TLC. The press bed, cylinder rack, bed bearers, under rails, gripper pedal, trip latch & rail along the bed, steel cabinet, and feed table all check out and seem to need nothing more than heavy […]
MoreMore TagI am looking for info on my Potter Press
I’ve had a Potter #2 for about 10 years. I’ve happily been doing small runs of woodcuts and engravings with it. Still I’d like to make it work like it once did. I’ve got some beat up grippers, but that’s the extent of it. I’m looking for information as to how these presses went together. I have questions, and possibly […]
MoreMore TagPotter manual?
I had an inquiry for a manual for a Potter No. 3. Does anyone have one or know someone who might? I did direct this person to the Potter census and to ATF catalog pages posted on the old site.
MoreMore TagSP15 “bearer controlled form roller support system” + nylon wipers
I’m hoping to clarify a few SP15 related mysteries. Apologies in advance for the multiple reference photos….
MoreMore TagUNI III Missing parts
Hi – I am missing the friction fingers (X-21714), and I want to understand the function. Also, the UNI I parts list has a friction spring (X-21715) listed. I am guessing that this was dropped on the UNI III as it does not appear in my UNI III manual. or is the Vandercook technical writing team again doing […]
MoreMore TagVandercook manual / sign typeface?
Apologies if this has been discussed before, but does anyone know the typeface(s) used on the Vandercook manual, or on the identification sign / tag on the press? I have a 1962 SP-15. I want to guess it’s something like Gill Sans or a popular modern font of the time, but perhaps they had their […]
MoreMore TagChallenge 15MPC
I am reconditioning a 15MPC and am in need of an MPC manual or a pic of the impression Cylinder drive. I believe the parts are all there to reconnect except for the friction wheels (guessing) that ride the main drive shaft. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Regards Steve
MoreMore TagSP20 Manual
I became the proud owner of a beautifull Vandercook SP20 this week. We moved it from Leiden in the Netherlands to Brussels on friday. The press is in reasonable condition I think, allthough before starting to operate it I would like to give it a decent cleanup, regrease and finetune all machine parts. Could Anyone […]
MoreMore TagManual for SP-15?
I’ve come across an SP-15 for sale, but it’s in pieces and I’m hoping to find a manual for the model so that I can inventory all of the bits to make sure everything is there. Obviously I’d also like to make sure that I rebuild the press correctly. Does anyone out there happen to […]
MoreMore TagNo. 1 Vandercook Proof Press
I have just acquired the above press, and am looking for people who have experience using one. The serial number is 8596. I want to use it for printing invitations and other small pieces. This is a tabletop, hand-ink press with a crank and a 16×21 bed. I cannot seem to find a visual of […]
MoreMore TagGalley Height?
I recently purchased a Vandercook #3. I have used Vandercooks in the past but it has been some time. I was struck by the phrase “galley height” and was wondering what it means exactly. The information that I have found on this press refers to a bed plate that comes with the press. I will […]
